Complete Guide to Parrot Feeding
A balanced diet is essential for the health and well-being of parrots. Here we explain which foods they can eat without limits, which should be given in moderation and which are completely forbidden.
Ideal percentage of food in your diet
To ensure adequate nutrition, the diet of parrots should be distributed as follows:
✅ 60% - 70% 🥦 Specialised feed or pellets → It provides all essential nutrients and should be the basis of your diet.
✅ 20% - 25% 🥕 Fresh vegetables → Carrot, pepper, broccoli, spinach, courgette, among others.
✅ 5% - 10% 🍎 Fresh fruit → Apple, pear, banana, papaya, mango (in moderation due to sugar content).
✅ 5% - 10% 🌰 Seeds and nuts → Sunflower, pumpkin, almonds, walnuts (in small quantities, as they are high in calories).
